Iris lamps inspired by the human eye

London design firm “Fredrikson Stallard" recently unveiled their new series of crystal lamps resembling the human eye at the “Design Miami/Basel” show. This line of lamps, called 'Iris', feature crystals that radiate from the center of each lamp, supported on metal stands inspired by photographic and surgical lighting. The design highly resembles the human eye. An 'Iris' lamp consists of four separate pieces combining "Swarovski" crystal and different metal treatments, from gold leaf to corten. The diameter of each lamp is estimated at 1.5 meters and each lamp contains over 600 hand-cut crystals. Nadja Swarovski, Vice President of International Communications and Creative Director at "Swarovski" commented saying: "The work stands out for its ability to use the language of design to create sublime artistic pieces. Design Miami/Basel represents the ideal platform for Swarovski Crystal Palace to delve deeper and experiment with the provocative divide between art and design."
