Windsurfing inspires The Waver Chair

Industrial designer Konstantin Grcic created a chair named "Waver" for the trademark "Vitra". The chair is inspired by the sport of windsurfing, and was created using the same materials used to make windsurfing gear. Grcic was able to present the highest level of comfort and safety in this design, despite the simplicity of its technology, where a person sitting on the "Waver" chair feels like they are floating on the seat's fabric that is jammed inside a tubular steel frame. The seat has two arms on the sides, and appears as though it is suspended from above with the frame supporting it. Even though the seat is make of one layer of fabric, it is still very comfortable. The finishing is highly intricate and the designer was able to excel in the creation of the supporting frame that allows easy mobility of the chair. The chair is supported with a four-leg base, and the designer featured a collection of colors in the seat's fabric.
