Emaar Properties has not announced the height of the proposed tower, saying only that it would be “a notch” taller than the Burj Khalifa’s 828m (2,717ft).
A new tower – described by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai and Vice President of the UAE to be “as great as the Burj Khalifa and Eiffel Tower” – is being planned in Dubai.
The project’s developer, Emaar Properties, did not yet announce the height of the new Dubai gem, but confirmed that it would be taller than the tallest building in the world. The $1 billion project is scheduled to be completed for the Dubai Expo trade fair in 2020.
The new tower is designed by Spanish-Swiss neo-futuristic architect Santiago Calatrava Valls and will include residential and commercial units.
The still-unnamed building will sit along the Dubai Creek, with construction set to begin in a few months.
