With its headquarters located in Dubai, MBRSC is a symbol of the UAE&rsquo;s commitment to advancing in space science.&nbsp;<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-mbrsc-s-origin-and-vision\">MBRSC&rsquo;s Origin and Vision<\/h3><p>MBRSC was initially established under the name, Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST). However, in 2015, it was renamed to honour His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai.&nbsp;<\/p><p>His vision was to create a platform for revolutionary space research and technology for his country. As a result, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre was built to promote scientific research and establish the UAE as a major contributor to space exploration.<\/p><p>One of the main objectives of MBRSC is to foster young Emirati talent and shift the UAE&rsquo;s focus to knowledge-based industries. Through this long-term strategy, the UAE aims to diversify its economy and enhance its national capabilities. Some noteworthy missions that have gained international recognition are as follows:<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-khalifasat-uae-s-homegrown-satellite\">1. KhalifaSat: UAE&rsquo;s Homegrown Satellite<\/h4><p>In 2018, MBRSC launched its first Emirati-made satellite, <strong>KhalifaSat<\/strong>. It is an Earth observation satellite that was successfully deployed into space from Japan&rsquo;s Tanegashima Space Centre. It provides high-resolution imaging services to track climate, monitor land and improve urban infrastructure.&nbsp;<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-mars-mission-the-hope-probe\">2. Mars Mission &ndash; The Hope Probe<\/h4><p>The Hope Probe, launched on 20 July 2020, is a part of the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM). With the launch of Hope Probe, UAE became the <strong>first Arab nation<\/strong> and the <strong>fifth country globally <\/strong>to reach Mars.<\/p><p>The probe&rsquo;s function is to study the Martian atmosphere, including its daily and seasonal changes. This information is important for understanding the planet&rsquo;s climatic and atmospheric behaviour. Also, the Hope Probe entered the Martian orbit on 9 February 2021, marking a historical moment which was celebrated across the Arab world.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-the-lunar-mission-rashid-rover\">3. The Lunar Mission: Rashid Rover<\/h4><p>Building on the success of its Mars mission, MBRSC is now set to explore the moon. The Rashid Rover is all set to launch in late 2024. It will be the first Emirati lunar rover to study the moon&rsquo;s surface. Through the launch of Rashid Rover, MBRSC aims to contribute to the global efforts of various countries in lunar exploration.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-earth-observation-satellites\">4. Earth Observation Satellites<\/h4><p>In addition to KhalifaSat, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) operates several Earth observation satellites. Here are some key satellites working under MBRSC:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>DubaiSat-1<\/strong>: It was the UAE&rsquo;s first Earth observation satellite, launched in 2009.
