Following the battle of Bithnah in 1735, there was a need for a strong defence system in Al Bithnah Village.<\/p><p>This is when the fort was constructed to protect the village, its residents and the inland route to Fujairah. Two watchtowers were built to provide 24\/7 surveillance and security to the residents and the travellers.<\/p><p>Sheikh Hammad Bin Abdullah Al Sharqi took control of the fort and the village in 1884.
