In-room iPads put everything from room service to a movie library at your fingertips, and the nightly turndown is made all-the-sweeter by occasional fresh roses and chocolates. Each Address hotel has its own signature scent, and Fountain Views’ fragrance features cedarwood and vetiver – a fresh and citrusy concoction that, as one guest put it, “smells like a five-star spa”. Dapper bellboys, crystal vases and oodles of cool white marble set the scene at check-in – with the Downtown skyline sparkling outside the double-height windows. It’s tasteful and luxurious, yet feels welcoming too: you l want to sink into the plush armchairs, kick off your shoes and gorge on that view. the hotel had been open for three months: a newbie yes, but there were hiccups – including forgotten drinks orders and a mishap with housekeeping. Mistakes were quickly rectified, but such slip-ups are unprecedented in a hospitality marque of this stature.

Facilities are excellent. The two swimming pools – one for adults, one for tots – overlook the Burj Khalifa, with refreshments delivered straight to your private cabana. There’s also a glorious spa and well-appointed fitness studio.
