Dubai Design Week 2026 runs from 3 to 8 November at Dubai Design District (d3). The festival is free to attend and open to visitors of all ages, while the Downtown Design fair inside it is ticketed, from AED 80 for a single day.

This is the 12th edition, and it fills D3 with installations, exhibitions, talks, workshops, and a weekend marketplace. Whether you’re a designer, a student, or simply curious, here’s how to plan your visit, from getting there to what to see first.

What is Dubai Design Week?

The festival describes itself as the leading design festival in the region. It brings designers and creative practitioners together for six days, with a strong focus on voices from West and South Asia and the wider Global South.

The festival takes place under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. Dubai Design District (d3), part of TECOM Group, is its strategic partner, and Dubai Culture is the lead supporter.

The programme mixes free public installations and exhibitions with talks, hands-on workshops, the Abwab exhibition, the Urban Commissions competition, a marketplace and Downtown Design, the region’s main fair for contemporary design.

What’s on at Dubai Design Week 2026

With so much spread across D3, it helps to know the main programme strands before you arrive.

Abwab Dubai Design Week: In Other Words

Explore In Other Words, the Abwab exhibition at Dubai Design Week 2026. Held at Atrium 7 in Dubai Design District (d3), the exhibition brings together five creative projects exploring language, communication and self-expression through art and design.

Visitors can explore the exhibition daily from 10 am to 10 pm.

Free public tours led by the curators take place on Wednesday 4 November and Friday 6 November, both at 4 pm.

Downtown Design

Downtown Design is the ticketed fair at the heart of the week, showing contemporary furniture, lighting and interiors from regional and international names. This year’s line-up includes carpets and textiles by Nadine Kanso and Omar Al Gurg with Iwan Maktabi, an exhibition on the Memphis Milano movement, and work from UAE programmes such as Tashkeel’s Tanween Design Programme and Abu Dhabi’s Athath Fellowship. Interior designer Tristan Auer gives a keynote at the Downtown Design Forum.

Urban Commissions

Urban Commissions is an open competition for public space design. The 2026 theme is Atmospheres, and the winning project, Three Gardens and a Room by Nao Architects, uses planting, colour, shade and filtered light around a shared central room.

Installations and exhibitions

art

Large-scale installations are scattered across the district and free to explore. A few to look out for:

  • Playing Field by Alter, which turns the game of Ludo into a shared play space
  • Chatai 2.0 by Nikken Sekkei and Sobokuya, an expanded timber structure
  • InBetween What Was and What Will Be by aestudio, built with reclaimed concrete rubble
  • Bayn by Palm and Palazzo, on privacy and connection in the Bahraini home

The UAE Designer Exhibition also returns, this time under the theme Inherited Futures, with AlZaina Lootah as the design collaborator. Other highlights include a jewellery research exhibition by L’École, School of Jewelry Arts, and a ceramics show by young makers from Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children.

Workshops at the Maker Space

The pop-up Maker Space hosts hands-on workshops led by designers, makers, universities and cultural institutions. Sessions range from traditional crafts to digital tools, and they’re open to all ages and experience levels.

Marketplace

On the weekend of 7 and 8 November, the outdoor Marketplace brings independent makers selling homeware, jewellery, fashion and handmade goods, along with children’s activities and live performances.

Tips for visiting Dubai Design Week
