Community Overview
Tecom is a fairly new community and consists of a large group of buildings in a circular formation. Not necessarily the prettiest neighbourhood in Dubai due to its older high rise buildings, it is nonetheless popular with single people and young married couples who benefit from its prime location, good facilities and reasonable prices.
Location
Within a stone’s throw of Internet City and just off Sheikh Zayed Road, it sits alongside The Greens community and is also very near to Dubai Media City.
Who lives here?
Lots of different nationalities live in Tecom and it is populated mainly by professionals in their twenties and thirties – many of whom work in media or retail. There are quite a few young families here too and the area is filling up week by week.
Amenities & Facilities
There are good supermarket options with a Geant, Carrefour and lots of mini supermarkets across the whole neighbourhood. There are plenty of beauty salons and hairdressers and an impressive gym called MMA fitness too. There are also a few hotels including Millennium and Media Rotana which have great restaurants.
Property choices
This is purely a tower community featuring one, two and three bedroom apartments of varying quality.
Pros
- Price! Tecom is doing well because you can get a good sized apartment for a very reasonable rent and with low DEWA costs
- Plus, it has great transport options with buses, a metro station, loads of taxis – and is slap bang next to Sheikh Zayed Road for drivers
Cons
- There are no green spaces and many of the pavements are unfinished
- Several buildings are still under construction too meaning there is some noise and dust
