Celebrity rentals

Here in the UAE we sometimes hear about homes owned by celebrities but for obvious reasons the USA is the true land of plenty when it comes to star-studded real estate.   Take a look at a few properties currently on the rental market where tenants can experience a little bit of  the A-list lifestyle…

Oprah Winfrey’s Chicago apartment
The undisputed queen of daytime TV bought this palatial property for $5.6m in 2006 but has never moved in.  The three-bedroom, waterfront property with spectacular views of Chicago harbour is now up for rent for $15,000 per month.

Lady Gaga’s pre-fame New York apartment
Manhattan-based Little Monsters will be interested to learn that the former home of Lady Gaga (or Stephanie Germanotta as she was known then) is up for rent for a very reasonable $1,850 per month. The modest home isn’t huge and lacks any star-studded touches, however wannabee tenants hoping to follow in the star’s rather eccentric footsteps will live within walking distance from the Bowery Ballroom, where today’s struggling acts become tomorrow’s chart-topping stars.

Anne Hathaway’s New York duplex
At the less-affordable end of the New York rental market is the home actress Anne Hathaway shared with her boyfriend Raffaello Follieri. The One Day actress left the apartment after her acrimonious split with the Italian fraudster and the lavish 7,750 square foot duplex is now available to rent for an eye-watering $55,000 per month.

Marc Anthony’s Beverly Hills villa
The Hollywood real-estate rumour mill reports that this ivy-covered house in West Hollywood was the L.A. home of latin pop star Marc Anthony following his breakup with J.Lo. Prospective tenants can lap up the celebrity-linked lifestyle provided by the lush, Italian-style property for a mere (not really) $23,800 per month.
