Al Shamkha is a residential area situated on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi. It lies to the northeast of the city and is conveniently connected to Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road (E311), one of the UAE’s major highways. Sweihan Road also runs along the northern side of the community, providing easy access to other parts of the emirate.


The neighbourhood is located near the industrial zone of Mussafah, and while still developing, it's expected to accommodate around 22,000 residents once complete.


Al Shamkha has become one of Abu Dhabi’s most sought-after freehold locations. Some parts of the area saw major redevelopment back in 2016.


The ongoing development of residential plots is being overseen by the Abu Dhabi Municipality and the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority. Meanwhile, Aldar is developing various residential projects in Al Shamkha such as Fay Al Reeman and Reeman Living, part of the larger Al Reeman development.
