Q&A with Abdulla Al Shammari
How long have you been in the industry?
I have been in the industry for nearly eight years. But it’s not about who did it first, it’s about who did it right.
Which areas do you specialise in?
I specialise in all of Abu Dhabi and Dubai areas, I think it’s important to know and understand the whole emirate in which you are selling.
Why did you decide to become a Real Estate Agent?
I prefer the term Real Estate Consultant, I feel I take on more of an advisory role. Clients often come to me not really knowing how to start so I guide them through the process. I have dedicated the time to learn how to be the best Consultant I can be, to ensure I am putting a smile on my client’s face, and that there is a positive outcome.
How would you describe the current property market?
The property market is very competitive, we face challenges constantly but, we always come up with the most astonishing ideas that eventually surpass any negativity, and that’s why I love the UAE, nothing is impossible for him or her who believes.
Tell us about last month’s big achievement
It was an exciting experience, the client was first interested in the beautiful Bvlgari Villas located in Jumeirah Bay Island, I personally loved the project but, whilst we were there I got a reply on one of the villas, located on The Palm, that he had already put an offer in on, the landlord had accepted the offer and I sold the villa for 27.5 million Dirhams.
How do you strike the balance to get the client what they want?
Before we offer the client anything, we have a meeting where I try to understand exactly what they are looking for, having this open conversation allows us advise them on their expectations.
What has been your favourite listing ever? What made it special to you?
The unique Nurai Island is my number one destination in the entire UAE, I have sold a small vila there but I aspire to sell the larger ones. The project is eight minutes away from Abu Dhabi but, when you enter it it’s like stepping into another world, the whole experience is five star the service, the food and the beaches.
What’s your best-negotiating tip?
We are the bridge between the seller and buyer, we try to make them understand and satisfy each other.
What’s your favorite vacation you’ve taken since living in the UAE?
Thailand, I love it! Every time I go I end up extending my stay for a whole month.
What’s your favorite place to go for dinner? Brunch? On an adventure over the weekend?
My favorite place is wherever my family is, I am grateful I have them by my side. As for adventures, I spend most of my time spearfishing, which is my peaceful getaway.
If you didn’t work in real estate, what career would you pursue?
I have been in business development for a long time so, I would stay along this path anything that involves team work specifically, two brains are better than one.
What is the question you are most often asked by property seekers?
A breakdown of what exactly needs to be paid, this is an important aspect of any deal so there is no hidden fees.
