What Is the Meaning of FEWA?

FEWA stands for the Federal Electricity and Water Authority. It is a governmental entity in the UAE providing 4 of the 7 emirates with electricity and water.

  1. Umm Al Quwain
  2. Fujairah
  3. Ajman
  4. Ras Al Khaimah.

How Can You Activate FEWA Services?

If you’re soon to settle in at one of the northern emirates, there’s no need to worry about activating your FEWA services. They are as simple as can be. All you need to do is head on online to their official FEWA portal and do the following:

  1. Create an account
  2. Click Services
  3. Choose E-Services
  4. Choose Customers
  5. Choose New Customer Services Activation
  6. Register your info for the online application form with any documents as needed
  7. Expect a day’s interval for approval and 48 hours for actual activation of FEWA electricity and water
  8. Service activation is free of charge. You are only required to pay a deposit.

What Are the Documents Required for FEWA Activation?

The following documents will be asked of you as part of the online application process, to be uploaded in PDF:

  1. Premise ID (available on each premises)
  2. Emirates ID copy of both sides
  3. Tenancy contract if you’re renting
  4. Title/ownership deed if you’re the owner.

How Can You Pay Your FEWA Deposit?

You can pay your FEWA deposit online right after the approval of your request. A time frame of up to 6 days gives you plenty of time to do so.

How Much Is the FEWA Deposit?

Your FEWA deposit depends of the type of property you will be residing in as follows:

  1. Studio: AED 1500
  2. One-bedroom or two-bedroom apartment: AED 2000
  3. Villa: AED 2000 or more depending on the size of the villa.

How Can You Check Your FEWA Bill?

You can check your FEWA online bill on the website or through the official app. For the website, there’s an option under the Services tab that says View and Pay Your Bill. This same option is available on the app.

All you need to do to access the information on both options is log in to FEWA by providing the following:

  1. Account number
  2. Mobile number
  3. E-mail address.

How Can You Pay Your FEWA Bill Online?

After viewing the details of your bill on the website (FEWA QuickPay) or app, you have the option to provide your credit card details and pay the due amount on the spot.

How Can You Pay Your FEWA Bill Offline?

If you’re not really a fan of online payment, you have a variety of options to pay your FEWA bill offline. You can check the following methods:

  1. Banks
  2. Kiosk Machines
  3. Emirates Post
  4. Service Centres
  5. Exchange Centres.

Can You Pay FEWA in Installments?

Only for citizens, their FEWA bill can be paid in regular installments. The first installment is paid in cash (25%) and the remaining outstanding bills can be paid over 12 installments each month or over a 6-month period.

How Can You Disconnect Your FEWA Account and Services Online?

If in the future you’re looking to disconnect your FEWA services at the property due to planning to leave the UAE or simply moving house, the process is a simple one at that. As usual, you would have to follow these easy steps:

  1. Log in to your account on the FEWA website
  2. Choose Services
  3. Choose E-Services
  4. Choose Customer
  5. You will find a Clearance Certificate tab for moving out. Apply for it
  6. Expect your water and electricity to be disconnected within 1 day
  7. Upon the payment of the due bill, if any, the certificate will be issued for you within the following 3 days
  8. Issuance of the Clearance Certificate online is free of charge.

How Can You Disconnect Your FEWA Account and Services Offline?

There’s an alternative option to disconnecting services if you prefer. All you need to do is head to the nearest FEWA service centre, Emirates ID in hand, and it’ll be done. This option will cost you AED 50.

Is FEWA Deposit Refundable?

Yes, following the disconnection of services, you can expect the amount of the security deposit to be refunded to you. You can either opt for it to be refunded directly into your account or head to the nearest Ansari Exchange for a cash refund of your FEWA deposit.

What Are FEWA’s Working Days and Hours?

FEWA centres are available during weekdays only from 7 am to 5 pm.
