Property service charges in the UAE can confuse even the most seasoned property owner, landlord or tenant. One of the most hotly debated issues appears to be that of district cooling and the associated fixed load charges which are levied on owners and often passed on to tenants.
We rent in Green Community West, a place I absolutely love, however what I don’t love is having to pay AED 700 (yes, AED 700!) to Emicool every month before we’ve even switched the air-conditioning on! We also hear claims that district cooling is more cost effective than running ACs off the regular DEWA supply. However, that’s not my experience so far.
