It is mostly a rental only area since the vast majority residents are non UAE nationals. It is not uncommon for whole buildings to have 1 landlord only. The area is popular with families due to its immense value for money and proximity to public transport. Karama is serviced by the ADCB Metro Station (formerly Karama Metro). As many buildings do not have their own dedicated underground car park, many residents make do by walking, cycling and using public transport to get around Dubai.

It is rare to find a rental apartment in Karama that is fully furnished and residents prefer to bring their own furniture, appliances and homewares. Studios and 1 bedroom apartments are most common with 2 and 3 bedroom flats also available.
