Bluewaters Island is a magnificent man-made island in Dubai, home to the world’s biggest observation wheel, Ain Dubai, and luxurious hotels, residences, entertainment, and dining options.
Bluewaters Island's location is 400 meters off the Jumeirah Beach Residence coastline and close to Dubai Marina. It’s accessible by a 265-meter pedestrian bridge from The Beach opposite JBR or by car through the exit from Sheikh Zayed Road.
The project was developed by Meraas Holding who worked with the contractor Van Oord, the Dutch firm that worked on Palm Jumeirah, and cost approximately AED 6 billion.
H.H. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, approved the project, and it was launched in 2013 and completed in 2018.

Bluewaters Island doesn’t have a dedicated metro station, but it’s highly well-connected to public transport via nearby hubs. The DMCC Metro Station (Red Line) is just 5–7 minutes away by car, providing easy access to key areas such as Downtown Dubai, DIFC, and Dubai International Airport. For those commuting by public transport, RTA feeder buses connect the island to Dubai Marina and JBR. The pedestrian bridge linking Bluewaters to JBR makes it easy for residents to walk over and access the tram and metro stations. Bluewaters Island offers ample and well-managed parking for both residents and visitors. A large underground parking facility with over 2,000 spaces serves the island, including Ain Dubai, retail zones, and dining venues. Visitors can expect paid parking (around AED 20 per hour), with some outlets offering free validated parking upon minimum spend. Valet services are also available at hotels and select restaurants, making parking convenient and secure whether you're staying long-term or visiting for the day.

Visited for a weekend - genuinely stunning views and a nice boardwalk vibe, felt more like a destination than a typical residential area. Bridge access can back up during Marina events

Living on Bluewaters honestly feels like you're permanently on a luxury vacation, and being able to just walk across the pedestrian bridge to JBR in the winter is amazing. The apartments are gorgeous and having that kind of ocean view never gets old. The only real downside—aside from the crazy high rent—is dealing with the weekend bottlenecks on the bridge when everyone in Dubai decides they want to visit the island for dinner.
